Investors in the Environment (iiE) is a national environmental accreditation scheme. It is designed to help organisations save time and money, reduce their impact on the environment, and get promoted for their green credentials. iiE provide all the help, support, and networking you need to make your organisation greener and ensure you get recognition for your eco initiatives. Upon successful implementation of the iiE criteria, members are awarded with the recognised stamp of certification. Genee is a North East of England iiE delivery partner.
Genee is the secretariat for the North East Recycling Forum, which is a forum for the public, private and community sector to share best practice in waste, recycling and resources issues. Genee organise quarterly meetings and an Annual Conference across the region, the dissemination of information to the NERF network, and manage memberships (the Friends of NERF).

Provides their clients with the system to calculate and report on the carbon footprint of their organisation for SECR purposes. The process is based on the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol and uses the latest UK Government Conversion factors and international energy agency factors where relevant. Organisations can choose to follow all 3 steps of the SmartCarbon process or do any combination of steps that suit their needs.
Off set your emission through local woodland planting with our partner Forest Carbon. Forest Carbon leads the way in UK woodland creation for carbon capture. Through the planting of over 9.5 million new trees since 2006, our projects are removing nearly 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere, as well as providing a host of other benefits to society, including flood mitigation, enhanced biodiversity and increased public access.
Going Green Together support VCSE (voluntary, community and social enterprise) organisations and communities in the North East to take action on the climate emergency, support nature and biodiversity and ensure a just transition to a low carbon future for North East communities.
Genee is working with the VCSE Sector through Going Green Together to enable many organisations to achieve iiE Accreditation.
